9-6-21… Labor Day, and Why We Labor…

By September 6, 2021No Comments

Labor day was first celebrated on September 5th, 1882.  (100 years before I was born!)  It was established by the labor unions in New York in order to celebrate the labor force and industrial workers.  I think it was a meant to appease the labor force.  Either way, we are thankful it is here.  We all work hard, and it’s nice sometimes to celebrate that.  In honor of Labor Day, here’s some questions for you….

Why do you work hard?

What is your purpose for doing what you do?

Do you do what you love?  If not, why not?

What’s your dream?

Is it to be rich?

Is it to be financially free?

Is it to send your kids to college?

Is it to serve other people?

All of those are worthwhile goals.

What’s yours?

If you’re not doing what you love, what do you love?  Is it possible to make a living at it? Can you give up some, work hard, and then make it possible for you to do what you love?

100’s of people told me not to open a business.

“Millions of businesses fail every year,” they said.  “We are in a recession,” they said. “You’ll never be able to support yourself,” “You’re giving up how much money, stability, and a salary?”

The negativity just kept on going, but I decided not to listen.

If there’s a recession, I’m choosing not to participate.

I chose to work hard and write my own story.  I chose to live my life, and you can too.

The nay sayers are that way because they are scared.  They are scared of branching out on their own and doing what they love.

I’m not saying this to be arrogant or flippant.

There are situations where it’s smart to stay where you are currently, but bide your time and see if you can sacrifice and make it happen.

Many people fail, it’s ok to fail as long as you learn.

Adversity to risk may keep you safe, but it also may keep you miserable.

If you are successful you’ll be grateful for it.  It’s truly a blessing.

Even though people try to take it from you, hold onto the dream.  Keep it going.  That’s what keeps me going every day!

Reach for your dreams.

Take out a napkin while you’re at lunch today and write out your plan.  What are the next steps to make it happen?  You can do it, take the rest of today and get started!

Have a great day!
